This is a guided trip to the Stone Arch you see on our brochure.
It starts off with an interesting 4X4 drive up the mountain which takes between 1 to 1.5 hrs,
but beware, the drive is not for people with a fierce fear for heights. On the drive
Klipspringer and Black Eagle are often seen, and on occasion the Hartmanns Mountain Zebra
are also seen. Flora along the way is also amazing, with the different euphorbias and aloes
scattered among the rocks.
Once at the top, we take a 10 minute walk to the edge of the gorge from where you have a
breathtaking view of the gorge as well as the Rock Arch. For those who are feeling fit, there
is a Zebra path going down to the Arch, but the path is quite rocky and a bit slippery in one
or two places, so good walking shoes are a must. But it is well worth the walk, as you get to
see the Arch from close up. After sitting and listening to the birds and Dassies, we return
to the car for another exciting drive back to the Farmhouse.
The whole trip takes between 3 and 4 hrs, so don't forget some water, a hat and walking shoes. |
